Legal Obligation
- Foreign nationals must carry a passport or Alien Registration Card at all times (exempt for those under 17).
- Immigration officers may request these documents during official duties. Failure to comply may result in penalties under Article 27 of the Immigration Act.
Alien Registration Eligibility
- Foreign nationals must register for an Alien Registration Card within 90 days of entry if:
- Staying in South Korea for over 90 days.
- Former South Korean nationals who obtained foreign citizenship or foreign nationals born in South Korea staying for over 90 days.
Alien Registration Process
- Personal visit required. Bring:
- Passport
- Application Form (Form No. 34)
- 1 color photo (3.5cm x 4.5cm)
- Fee (30,000 KRW)
- Proof of residence (e.g., lease, accommodation confirmation)
