If there is a change in the passport details (e.g., number, issuance date, or expiration) of a registered alien in Korea, the passport holder must report the update to the immigration office within 14 days.
Steps to Update Passport Information Online
- Log In to the HiKorea portal.
- Navigate to Application
- Go to 민원 신청 (Civil Service Application) → 전자 민원 (Electronic Civil Service).
- Select Passport Change Declaration
- Click 여권변경 신고 (Passport Change Declaration).
- Check the box to agree, then click 다음 (Next).
- Enter New Passport Details
- Fill in the following fields:
- New Passport Information (Required) - 새 여권정보 입력: Re-enter your new passport number, nationality, and birth date as shown on the sample.
- Passport Issuance Date (Required) - 새 여권정보 재입력: Enter the issuance date (8 digits, e.g., 19701123).
- Passport Expiry Date (Required) - 새 여권 발급일: Enter the expiration date (8 digits, e.g., 19701123).
- Application Date: This should auto-fill, e.g., 2024-10-30.
- Competent Immigration Office: This should auto-fill, e.g., 서울남부출입국·외국인사무소 (Seoul Southern Immigration Office).
- Upload Passport
- Scan or take a clear photo of the personal information page of your passport.
- Upload the file as instructed.
- Submit Application
- Click 신청 (Submit) to complete your application.
