Korea Immigration & Integration Program (KIIP)
KIIP helps foreigners learn Korean language and culture to better integrate into society.
Who can join?
- Foreigners in Korea seeking permanent residency or nationality.
- Benefits: Exemption from naturalization written test and interview.
- Those who gained nationality within the last 3 years.
Courses
- Korean Language & Culture: Levels 0 to 4 (assigned by a level test).
- Understanding Korean Society: 50 hours for permanent residency, 70 hours for nationality.
How to apply for KIIP?
- Take a level test and get placed in the right class.
- Submit your valid TOPIK score (online or at an immigration office) to get assigned to a level.

- Start at Level 0 if you don’t take the test.

KIIP Class Policies
- There are 3 semesters per year, and new classes open at the start of each semester. Check for available classes 1-2 weeks before.
- Level 0 and Level 1 classes often run together. After finishing Level 0 (15 hours), your teacher will help you sign up for Level 1.
- Level 5 classes may also start mid-semester due to their short duration.
- Important: Registration opens at 9 AM. Log in 10 minutes early as popular classes fill quickly.
Steps to Apply for a KIIP Class
- Log in to SOCINET. Click 회원로그인 (Log in) and enter your ID and password.
Then, click 마이페이지 (My Page) at the top right.
- In 마이페이지 (My Page), click 과정신청 (Apply for Class) to apply.
- Your assigned level will determine which classes you can see (e.g., if you’re Level 3, only Level 3 classes will be shown).
- Scroll through the class list and choose between online or offline options.
- For offline classes, check the location.
- The list updates frequently, so check often at the start of the semester.
- Focus on these columns:
- 운영기관명 = Institution name
- 주소 = Class location
- 과정및단계 = Class level
- 신청시간 = Registration time (opens at 09:00)
- 정원 (동포/그외) = Class capacity
- 신청 (동포/그외) = Applied students
- 대기 (동포/그외) = Waitlisted students
- 신청 정보 = Application information
- 신청가능 = Application available
- 신청마감 = Application closed
- 대기가능 = Waitlist available
- Once you’ve found a suitable class, click the institution’s name and location.
- Review the class time (과정시간), days (요일), class time (과정시간), and class duration (인정시간) before confirming registration.
- Click 신청 (Apply) at the bottom to register.
- The waiting list is limited to 3 people per course. After checking the course name, course period, and course progress, click 대기신청 (Apply for Waiting List) button.
- Click 확인 (Confirm) button to complete the waiting list application.
※ If the number of applicants exceeds the course capacity, you can apply to be on the waiting list.
- After registering, click 목록조회 to check your status. If the class appears in cyan-colored box, you’ve successfully enrolled.
Note: Classes may get canceled if there aren’t enough students. If this happens, cancel your registration and apply for a different class. Your teacher will contact you via text or KakaoTalk 1-2 days before class starts.
